Adding an additional quart or so will bring up the oil level and not cause any issues; perhaps a little more windage losses at the crank, but it would help. I've always wondered about that issue and know that in the initial R&D of the powerplant, they were having the same exact problem and redesigned the oil pan (this was noted in the car and driver magazine that covered the car's evolution/specifications). I've always added an extra quart to my engine when roadcoursing/auto-xing her with the exception of one time, and that one time I wiped out the #6 rod bearing at GIR in the third session (sessions were 13 minutes each). This was on my current Z, but when she was still an NA (just after my original Z was totaled). It would be nice to see some datalogging of oil pressures when using an additional quart of oil, perhaps more.
